Interruptions

Angry upset boy, little man

Have you ever been trying to get something done, but you always keep getting interrupted?

I sat down several times this week in front of my computer in order to write this blog post, but life kept happening.  My phone would ring.  I would receive an urgent text.  I would think of something more pressing that I needed to deal with.  Life just kept interrupting me.

When my life gets like that, I get very frustrated.  I am sure that you don’t.  I am sure that most of you reading this post probably are much more mature than I am.  However, when I get interrupted like that, I get down right cranky.  I get mad that I can’t get done with the very thing that I set out to do.

It seems that whenever I find my self good and frustrated with life’s interruptions God reminds me of something.  He reminds me that life’s little interruptions are part of His plan.  It’s the interruptions in life that have fostered some of the best relationships that I have.  As a result of interruptions God has allowed me to share His Story (i.e. – the Gospel) with complete strangers.  The interruptions that I get frustrated with are really God reminding me that I live for a greater purpose that writing blogs, preaching sermons and leading a church.

So, when your life and plans get interrupted today, don’t get frustrated.  Instead, look for His plan.  Look for the opportunity share God’s story.  Look for the open door to start a new friendship.  Embrace the rest and pause that God is giving you through the interruption of your plans.

Here’s a closing verses to ponder when your day gets interrupted…

but they who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint.” – Isaiah 40:31 (ESV)
